A Year in
the Word
|
Literally hundreds of our church family are participating in a collective journey through the Word of God in 2009. We will be following what is known as the M’Cheyne Plan. Robert Murray M’Cheyne was a Scottish pastor of the 19
th century and was revered as a godly and dynamic leader. His lasting legacy is the plan he formulated for reading the bible through in one year. Actually, his plan takes the reader through the Old Testament once and the New Testament and the Psalms twice.
You will notice that the plan is divided into what M’Cheyne called “family” and “secret” readings. His plan was for the family to use the “family” readings during their family devotion time and to use the “secret” readings during personal devotions. Of course, you may use both the “family” and “secret” readings during your personal devotions. However, let me encourage you to utilize the readings as they were intended and devote time to reading God’s Word together as a family. I think this will be an added blessing for you in 2009.
The readings for the next month will be posted here the last week of each month throughout 2009.
