We are organized around an ACTS 1:8 strategy:
“But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you shall be My witnesses both in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and even to the ends of the earth.”
It is the duty and privilege of every follower of Christ and of every church of the Lord Jesus Christ to endeavor to make disciples of all nations. The new birth of man's spirit by God's Holy Spirit means the birth of love for others. Missionary effort on the part of all rests thus upon a spiritual necessity of the regenerate life, and is expressly and repeatedly commanded in the teachings of Christ. The Lord Jesus Christ has commanded the preaching of the gospel to all nations. It is the duty of every child of God to seek constantly to win the lost to Christ by verbal witness under girded by a Christian lifestyle, and by other methods in harmony with the gospel of Christ. -Baptist Faith and Message (2000)
PURPOSE
The purpose of short-term mission trips sponsored by BVBC is: (1) to proclaim the Gospel and to present the truths of the Inerrant Word of God to people groups throughout the world, (2) to encourage and facilitate involvement of BVBC members and others in missions projects at home and abroad, and (3) to increase awareness of world missions needs through personal participation by as much of the body as possible. (4) To help all language communities and ministries of BVBC act as one body to reach the world for Christ. In a spirit of unity and cooperation of bringing the Gospel to the world.
STRATEGIC FOCUS
We have a strategic focus for all of our international projects. We join various Southern Baptist missions agencies and other like-minded organizations in putting our first priority in Short Term Mission Trips (STMT’s) on East & Central Asia, North Africa and the Middle East. This focus mandates that STMT’s to these areas take precedent over other short term volunteer projects not focused in those regions. This Strategic emphasis in no way diminishes the value of other projects. We attempt to direct the efforts of our faith community to ensure that the goal of reaching the peoples of the 10-40 Window is completed in a well thought-out and deliberate manner. Our goal is to have 50% of the adult overseas participants primarily focused on the 10-40 window.
