Join us at Blue Valley on Sunday, July 27 at 6:00 pm for a Live Worship Recording featuring The HymNuts! |
The HymNuts are a Kansas City-based jazz combo performing original jazz arrangements of classic hymns, original jazz compositions, and jazz standards from the Cool and Be-Bop genres. They were formed in 2006 when members of the bvbcWORSHIP Band recognized a common appreciation of incorporating Jazz motifs into praise music. They have brought this unique style of praise and worship into several Kansas-City area churches and have expanded to playing “outside the walls” of the church at secular venues and events. Recent performances have included: Johnson County Kansas Martin Luther King Celebration (Overland Park, KS); 33rd Annual Black Achiever’s Awards/Southern Christian Leadership Council dinner in the Grand Ballroom at the historic Muelbach Hotel (Kansas City, MO), Earth Day and Juneteenth Celebrations at Sprint World Headquarters (Overland Park, KS), and are performing in the Richmond, MO Summer Concert Series this July. Please contact them for upcoming events at 913-712-9254 or thehymnuts@gmail.com
Current instrumentation features Dan Butko - bass; Anthony Dominguez - percussion; Tim Heizer – keyboards; Carl Kincaid – saxophones; Charles Moore – keyboards.
From the group's bio:
Regarding our doctrinal position: we are in essential agreement with the confessional statements of classical Protestantism and particularly lean towards The Baptist Faith and Message 2000 (with occasional debates regarding some of the Armenian vs Calvinist things. . . but don’t we all.) The statement describes our doctrinal beliefs; it does not define the boundaries of our fellowship.
