How Do We Provide Accountability For Our Leaders?
At BVBC, we place great trust in our leaders. But if we fail to place them under appropriate accountability, we fail to protect both our leaders and our church from sin. Therefore, BVBC provides the following means to maintain spiritual and moral accountability in our leaders:
- Every pastor, minister, and paid ministry director at BVBC was required to pass a nationwide criminal background check, credit check, and drug screening prior to being called to the church. At any point, they can be asked to complete these background checks again.
- Every pastor, minister, and paid ministry director at BVBC is required to participate in an annual performance review conducted by their immediate supervisor. The Senior Pastor is reviewed by the Elder Deacons. The Elder Deacons are godly and spiritually mature men who have been selected for this task by their fellow deacons. A written copy of these annual reviews is kept in each pastor, minister, and paid ministry director's personnel file.
- Every pastor, minister, and paid ministry director submits a monthly report to their supervisor detailing their ministry activities for the past month. This report also includes an opportunity for the pastor, minister, or paid ministry director to reflect on how they are doing spiritually. The Senior Pastor submits his monthly report to the Elder Deacons.
- The church family has full access to the financial records of the church. These records are reviewed monthly by a Finance Team selected by the church and are subject to an annual third-party audit by a local accounting firm.
